Faux Suede Flower

OMG! I didn't stamp a thing on this card! I did use my markers though-does that count?

Stamp Sets: none(agh!!!)
Inks: night of navy marker
Card Stock:SU night of Navy,Brilliant Blue,Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, and DSP from Sweet Pea Pack
Accessories: Extra Large two-step bird punch, scallopcircle punch, modern label punch, pumpkin pie corduroy button,so saffron brad,rub-on mat pack and white gel pen

I created this card for two challenges(since I am an old hat at this blogging thing now :/ )
The first is http://stamping411.blogspot.com/
and the 2nd is http://spcolorcombos.blogspot.com/
Anyway, on to the card. I made my flower using the faux suede technique. I first punched out 3 scallop circles(even though I only used 2!)You can use any shape I'm sure(a circle will do just as well).
Then using my bone folder(popsicle stick or side of pen will do if you don't have a bone), I rub the shape from the middle out, just until the shape frays at the edges.
Then peel the layers apart! Easy, huh? Then taking your scissors, cut slits towards center, being careful not to cut too far into the center.
Do this to at least 3 scallops. I leave the last one solid, but you can cut if you like. Then using either my fingers or my bone folder again,I round the petals towards the center. You may use a spritz of water or rubbing alcohol(which dries faster) to help you with this prossess. You can also wrinkle your flower all up and then spread back out.
Layer your flowers on top of one another.Lastly,I added a corduroy brad. I punched trough the center and set my brad. You have many options here- instead of a brad you can use a button, some ribbon or anything you can think of! Play around with it.I just love this flower! Now I need to use my flower on a card!or a scrapbook page! Think of the possibilities:)
So, I took my card stock that I liked for my card and decided on my layout! The card over at 411 had used hearts. I know I didn't have to use hearts but I started messing around with the wings that were left over from my 2-step bird punch and discovered I liked to make the wings into a heart:
I faux stitched the two hearts together with the mat pack and navy marker(I don't know if you can see in the finished card or not). I attached them to my card on the vines from my punch.

I assembled the card, added my extra scallop circle, the modern label punch(with saffron brad and a rub-on) and did a little faux stitching. I hope you enjoy!!!~Kris
