Being 'Udderly' Thankful

Thought: I saw this cute little guy a while back and thought I need to make a card out of him! He was originally made(I hope I am giving credit where it is rightfully due;)) by Dawn O
,as a topper for our SU! 1x8 bags.
I was working on an idea to go along with my Awash with Flowers class last month.  I was trying to think out of the box and thought of using the solid flower images looked like spots on a cow, so...
I started with a whisper white card and stamped the solid flower images from the Awash with Flowers set in basic black ink.  I used blush blossom, basic black, basic grey, whisper white, early espresso card stocks and basic grey from the neutrals DSP pack, for my punch art.  I took some pics of my punch art so you can see how I did my fellow:
Blush Blossom: decorative label, large oval(snout),and word window(tongue) Basic Black: Curly Label,Owl punch(eyes),Blossom Petals Builder(ears),itty bitty circle(cut in half -snout)  Early Espresso: Itty Bitty circle(eyes-white gel pen for highlights)

Whisper White:  wide oval(belly-stamp with small flowers in Awash with Flowers),large oval(words),boho blossoms(largest flower cut from corner and rounded to owl punch),2 owls both with feet cut away and 1 with the ears cut off  Basic Black: A small scrap(see throw out NOTHING!) strip layered across bottom, punched with jewelry tag punch and rounded at top for hooves
*Note* as many know I am a paper scrap LOVER! I try to get the most out of all my paper.  To do this I used a square piece of blush blossom and punch my images from the center of this, leaving the edges so they can still layer behind the basic grey DSP.
I wanted my cow to be peeking out of the stall, and saying something 'mooovelous'!  I used the occasions alphabet and with a basic black marker changed my t's to d's.
and what little cow does not need a bell??
I attached our mini jingle bell on my pool party bakers twine.

Finish!!
 Aren't I Moovelous??

Happy Mothers Day and it's AWASH (2) too!

Happy Mothers Day to all the mommys!!
Thought:
This is a really cool technique I have to share with you!
Did you know that you could emboss with our framelits dies?
Well how about making your embossing really stand out?
This was another card that we did this month with the Awash with Flowers set.
I love pink and brown together!
For this card front I use a piece of chocolate chip cs (4-1/4"x5-1/2"). I used a framelit template to mask a section of my chocolate cs.

I versamarked with my flower stamp and then heat embossed with our melon mambo embossing powder.(I did one with the Awash with Flowers set and on with the Mixed Bunch set)

Now to the next step:
You have a couple options here.
1. You can emboss with an embossing folder (such as the lattice shown)o
2. Or you can leave your card stock smooth:)

Using your BigShot make the following sandwich:
Tab 1
clear acrylic plate
silicone pad
card stock to be embossed
framelit-cut side UP!
a scrap piece of vanilla or white cs
clear acrylic plate
This will emboss your card stock.
To add the watermark, place your smooth side of framelit directly in versamark pad and ink all around

waaalaaa!

Pretty cool, huh?
Add a flower and the 'happy mothers day' stamped in mambo on a layered modern label punch.  If you need to know how to layer this please check this post:label layering
I used a couple variations of the blossom punch flower and a scallop flower:
My friend Kim taught me this one;)
Snip the scallop and fold back folds.
I layered it on the blossom punch.
And this one is a basic blossom embossed in the vintage wallpaper folder:
Embellished with an in-color brad :)

Finish!!
Finish!!
Hope you enjoy this technique and have a wonderful mothers day (for the mommys reading this) or take time to love your mommy this day!

Until Next Thought,

Kris

It's AWASH card 1

These cutie pies were a sample for my monthly class, featuring the soon retiring stamp set Awash with Flowers.

I wanted to show the group different ways that you could use the flowers.  I am not sure who originally came up with this idea, but I had seen it at regionals a couple years ago,and this gave me perfect excuse to create these cuties;)
I wanted to showcase my girls so I decided on a shadow box card.  To do this, you take 2 same sized pieces of cs,these I did in whisper white and daffodil delight and whisper white and pool party. These are 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".  I cut out a window in the center of my card with our framelits labels collection.  I then embossed with our houndstooth EF. *Note* this may alter the size of your card stock so you may need to trim the white piece to match the colored piece.
Score from each side 1/2" and 1".
(not sure if you can see in this pic?)but this shows right side. Also do left and the whisper white as well.
Stamp your flower outline upside down in black ink. 2 step the inside color with coordinating stamp. Pick out your 'momma' and stamp her head directly above her body.  Add arms and heels.  Color your image, add embellishments too! I added a crown from the stamp set Tiny Tags and her purse from Family Business and off course some pearls! where the framelit window will show through.
Fold score lines and make a 'box', having the center raised.  Attach both ends(only) with adhesive.
I added a framelit cut from whisper white with a saying(from the stamp set You're A Gem) for my cutie pies:)

Here are 2 versions. The 2nd sample has some added cut out flowers from Awash with flowers and leaves from the 2 step bird punch, as well as some daffodil ribbon bows on the sides.
I hope you enjoy these gals as much as I do!!

Until Next Thought,

Kris
