The Reason for the Season

Can you Wait???

Thoughts:  As many of my stampers know, I keep almost EVERY scrap.  They believe sometimes that I am nuts,(Karen ;), upline-Donna;))

So what card can I make them from a bunch of scraps?  Something with all these tiny pieces that I love so much!

A peek-a-boo nativity!!!

  I have had the idea to make an itty nativity as soon as these peek-a-boo frames came out...

Here at my house we keep our nativity above our mantle, so I wanted to recreate a piece of my home to share:

The card base is naturals white cs,a layer of chocolate chip and a layer of cherry cobbler which has been embossed with our Stripes EF.  My mantle is a piece of chocolate chip card stock, that I scored with our new Simply Scored Tool(everyone needs this tool!!)I just scored it roughly half way in 3 1/8" lines to make a ledge:

I used a piece of natural whites punched with our double scallop ribbon punch scored in half to look like a doily,because I have a doily under my nativity,mine is a little more intricate than this one but no way to recreate that! I will have to find a picture of my mantle and throw it in here later...

Anyway, I used our new peek-a-boo die and the big shot to create my stable.  I used kraft cs and stamped it with our Woodgrain SS. I used 2 pieces from the edge of another frame to create the roof. I wanted this to pop a little.With my simply scored I created the chocolate chip background to give some dimension.  This piece was 2 1/2"x3", and scored at 1/4"and then another 1/8" from each side on the 2 1/2" side. I then folded this in a u shape from both sides and put a cut poppdot under each area folded area and then attach my stable to this. Now on to my Holy Family...

 

 And of course every nativity needs an angel watching over:

 Many little scraps were used in the creating of this nativity, but I assure you none where harmed;)

Joseph: daffodil delight cherry from our cupcake punch,a circle 'topping'from the same punch in very vanilla cs,sponged with pink pirhouette and facial features drawn with markers,the praying hands are the top of the candle from this punch as well.  The jewelry tag punch and 2-halves of the itty bitty shaped flowers act as the arms.  The staff is the candle from this punch in silver cs( I used my paper snips to trim and make look like a staff)

Baby Jesus: The crib is made from a jewelry punch and the 'plus' flower(fold in half and glue to crib front) in our itty bitty punches(the crib legs) in soft suede, the hay from our snowflake punch in more mustard cs, the halo is daffodil delight and the eyes from our Owl Punch, the head is the cupcake punch circle,sponged with pink pirouette and facial features done with markers.  The bunting is marina mist and a stocking piece from our Stocking Punch(see I use this punch in ALL my projects!LOL)

Mary: The halo is made from the eye of the owl punch in daffodil delight cs, hte body and arms are made in marina mist and similar to Josephs.  The head and hands are made in very vanilla and the circle jimmie and candle flame from the cupcake punch also.

And lastly our angel: She is made with some naturals white CS that I had embossed with our snowflakes ef. She is made similarly to Mary and Joseph.  Her Wings are 2 small hearts from our Owl Punch.

Add your Holy Family into the stable with pop dots! :)

Lastly, I embossed a rectangular piece of naturals white cs with our Cherry Cobbler embossing powder and marker-ed in with marina mist the open areas.  I layered this on chocolate chip and attached to corner of card.
I love all these muted tones,not too bright! I need my halo to be the brightest thing here;)))  I will share this with SUO challenges

Santa's 'Stocking' Suit

Just a quick post today!! And another stocking card, of course!

This one uses the stockings as arms.

I love making Santa's suit, always have! I remember as a kid,I would draw Santa and his suit constantly!

the base of this card is a 4 1/4"x 8 1/2" piece of real red card stock. Score from 2 1/8" on the left side and 2 3/8" from the right side.  The right side will actually fold under the left.  Punch out 2 stockings from the Stocking Punch. Spritz with Shimmer Paint Mixture(if you are unsure of this leave me a comment and I will get back to you with how-to) Emboss only the front flaps and stockings(making sure to put opposite,so they are embossed not debossed;)).

Next sponge the embossed suit with some cherry cobbler ink.

To make mittens: use the following punches: word window for thumb,lg oval for hand and stocking punch for cuff. Attach to your 'arm' and then pop using stampin' dimensionals to card base. cut a strip of black card stock 1/2" wide.  You can wrap all around card or just trim strips to front.  Punch the smaller hole with crop-a-dile, line up jewelry punch with edge over hole and Punch a jewelry tag from our white shimmer paper.  Buttons are from our embosslits buttons in basic black.

and HO!Ho!Ho!
