What? A technique??? hmmmm, I smell something burning. I hope it is that romantic fireplace behind this front door ;)
Thought: I used a step card to create a door.
What? A technique??? hmmmm, I smell something burning. I hope it is that romantic fireplace behind this front door ;)
Thought: I used a step card to create a door.
The card base is a piece of bravo burgundy cs,measuring 4-1/4"x 10-1/2". I scored the 10-1/2"side at 5". Placing the 10-1/2"side along the 1". From the score mark(5"),cut to 9-1/2". Flip this over and do the same to the other side, making parallel slits. Turn your card to the 4-1/4". At the 5-1/4" mark make a score line on the INSIDE only. This will be the top of your door. Score at the 9-1/2" and 9-1/4" on both of the OUT-Sides only. This will give you the 'step' at the bottom of your door. From here, you can flip over(this way they are raised) and make panels as you like on the door. I distressed with our distressing kit, using the mahogany ink and the smooth stamp.
I made 2-1"x4-3/4" panels with the 'brick'-look DSP from our Well Worn DSP. And another smaller panel 3/4'x4-1/4" for the step front. I distressed these as well. On the door itself, I stamped a heart (in Early espresso ink) from the new ss Take It To Heart on Kraft cs and cut out with the new Hearts Collection Framelits. I added a 'Mr. and Mrs.' from Tiny Tags ss and double-punched with our jewelry tag punch.
I also used the '4'you and the jewelry tag punch as my house numbers to the side of the door. These were both done with espresso ink on kraft and distressed as well.
Finish: Add a brad as the door knob so the Mr. and Mrs. get some privacy ;)
Until Next Thought,
Kris
Just beautiful, Kris! And I love that you gave us such detailed instructions. So many fun details - but I think I like the "house numbers" best! Thanks so much for sharing with the SUO Challenge Design Team!
